This Is Art: Reflections on Life, Art and Being Human

Baker Beach, San Francisco, CA

The day I took this photo I had just dropped off a passenger at Baker Beach after an uneventful Lyft Ride. Not having received a ride request directly following it, I turned my car around, parked and glanced out over the water. I was surprised and delighted by what I saw. In 4 decades of living in the Bay Area and seeing this same view from both directions, more often from Marin toward San Francisco, never had it been so clear. I saw this as a metaphor for my views on life and how things over time, under different weather conditions, can become clearer. The juxtaposition of the “No Parking” sign and the two parked, vintage motorcycles adds yet another element. Beyond the pleasant aesthetics and composition of this photo, there are endless interpretations of the subject matter. This is Art.
